I know it;'s been allowed to have vampires in the dream, and I'm just fine with Caelestius, Arsenius, and Nathali, but there's a problem arising. Just today, Nolo and I counted seven vampires in the dream. At this rate, there will be a higher vampire population than a human one in Le Quartier. My suggestion? There should be a limit to how many vamps can exist in the dream.

I agree, while the vampires do make for some excellent role-play, it seems you can't turn around in the dream without encountering one. It sort of narrows the storylines a bit, especially, I think, with the opera house currently out of commission. While I enjoy having vampires around, they do seem to be outshadowing the humans, and that's pretty unusual from an historical perspective.

Perhaps now, to be a vampire in the dream beyond those that we already have, you must roleplay being bitten and being changed unless you have divine Rah permission. The whole nine yards. Then if the vampire population keeps rising, it'll put a fear in our entire quartier community. o.o;; I hope that won't happen though. Just a suggestion. Take it as you will.

I highly agree. There are way too many vampires, and I am not just saying this because I am an angel. My suggestion would be that ALL vampires who wish to RP here as a vampire must undergo an audition and show that they are good RPers. Also, there should be a limit or a scale maybe. 1 vampire for every 2 humans?
I know vampires are cool and that so many people want to be one, but you can't just come in here with a recently created character and say that you are a vampire. We need either proof, or you need to prove your roleplaying ability.
Just the other day, there were a lot of vampires who were NOT in this continuity, who claimed they were, and were RPing things they shouldn't have. Not only that, none displayed any ability at RPing. One was black with green hair, another was all blue, and one just looked like they hit the randomization button. Some didn't even have descriptions.
This is sort of like Lerdia's newb infestation. We have a vampire infestation.
If you are going to RP a vampire, make sure it is legit here. The only vampires that I have seen (or know of) that are legit and very skilled RPers are Caelestius, Arsenius, and Nathali. I'm sure there are others, but those three just popped in my head first.
Anyways, let's keep the vampire population on the low for now.

I'm not sure what the fact that I haven't been mentioned says...is it that people haven't even recoginized that I am a vampire, or that I'm not up to par with the few 'founding vampires'? Or am I just very 'under the radar'? I hope it's the last, anyway. But anyway, that aside, I would like to agree with the suggestions - most of them, anyway. I like the idea of holding the vampires to higher standards than others, and pretty much requiring they be 'tested' before being allowed to RP. This is true with any RP role that has 'bonuses', be it a job in the Opera or whatnot. I think you have to go through some testing/ an interview to be inducted into the coven, but not if you just want to be an independent vampire like I did. Which leads to a lot of...well, you've already seen them and is discussed them here. It leads to a lot of confusing vampires. I'm not so sure about the idea that any new vampires would have to have been 'turned' in RP, though. Then all the vampires are related and it's just less interesting to me. One of the most fun things about being Soph to me is that he's -not- local, has varying opinions on the vampires in the coven (okay, so he thinks most of them are young and silly, but his character concept is a sort of disapproving old man, after all), etc. He's slowly meeting a few of them, gradually - I like that. But I do like the idea that all new vampires joining have to go through an RP test or something, and that perhaps the number be limited after a while if we're getting to many. Some of the random ones that have wandered in the past few days again have had me rolling my eyes too - one looked right at Soph in the middle of a not empty tavern and said something rather obvious - I can't quite remember what it was, but it made me twitch. And it is rather ridiculous when you F4 and 2/3 of the dream is vampires. ^^; I'm wary to bring on my -human- characters when I see that. I wouldn't have minded at all if I'd been required to go under a little test when I joined - I was rather surprised I that I wasn't.

I agree with the auditions. Vampires need to be in moderation -- even in Anne Rice, there were only a handful in the entire city. An entire city, which consisted of thousands of people.
I also agree that new vampires should be created only IC, but even then in moderation... and if someone wants to bring in an existing vampire, that character needs to be examined and auditioned simply because this is getting ridiculous. Or, perhaps to keep a healthy ratio, vampire characters need at least a mortal character to balance...
I like our existing, main vampires and have nothing wrong with them -- Arsenius, Nathali, Caelestius, Famke, and Soph. Three people, but responsible players, at that!
However it works out, there are just too many new vampires showing up.

I totally agree with everyone. The vampires, (not to mention the n00bs) are waaaay out of control. What I have been thinking has already been said.

On an unrelated note, the thread title makes it sound as if we were rats or vermin. :/ How undignified.

Vermin!
Ahem.
I guess a decision has more or less been settled upon, eh? I mean, honestly, my poor priest has such an issue! He can't have his parish dying off/being eaten/etc etc. It's just not natural...

Ok. That settles it then. Vampires need to undergo an audition and must be legit to RP here. All who wish to join the coven should be interviewed by Caelestius. Others who wish to be their own vampires not from the coven need to audition with whomever would be the one to audition them, and they can't RP here without an audition or permission. And I like the idea about balancing it out. If you are to play a vampire, you must also create a human. I like it.

Brilliant! And maybe limit it to one vampire per person (excluding the obvious...)

Umm, this just popped into my head.... But umm.. I don't think you'd find it funny, it's pretty tongue in cheek. But the audition and interview business made me think this unfunny thought. "Interview with the n00bpire(s)". Please, refrain from throwing tomatoes at me for this unfunny remark... Most people know that normally I come up with things to make people laugh, so once again.. Please don't throw tomatoes at me... I'll think of something funny perhaps later.
